The free residential diagnosis of Hydro-Quebec

Diagnostic résidentiel

Please visit the program Website Courant collectif for more details and to get the form.

Launched by Hydro-Quebec in 2003 as part of its Global Plan in energy efficiency, the residential diagnosis ENERGY WISE is a campaign of energy saving for residential customers. This is a personalized recommendation report made for free by Hydro-Quebec in response to a questionnaire filled by eligible residential customers.

This questionnaire allows you to know the distribution costs of electricity per use (heating, laundry, cooking, etc.). The report recommends concrete measures suited to each situation to encourage households to reduce their energy consumption without compromising their comfort. The recommendations are about constructions, household appliances and other devices, as well as human behaviors.

Why?

Quebecers are great energy consumers. In Quebec, the average home of four occupants, heated with electricity, consumes about 26,484 kWh per year. The Quebec Government has set targets to reduce energy consumption, which Hydro-Quebec must contribute for a better management of the resources and in a perspective of sustainable development. Its industrial, institutional, commercial and residential clients are solicited with various programs. Customers are the first beneficiaries : They save money while reducing their electricity consumption.

For whom?

The residential diagnosis is among campaings meant for residential customers. To be eligible, applicants must meet certain criterias. You have to be owner or tenant of the residence and holder of the electricity account for at least 12 months. It must indeed have the actuel consumption and an overview of the four seasons to make an accurate diagnosis.

What?

The questionnaire of the residential diagnosis is designed to make available a vast range of details about your electricity consumption. It scrutinizes the consumption in a residence : From the water-heater to the lighting. Filling this questionnaire will take you about 20 minutes since all the required information has been collected in advance. The questions will help you establish a personalized diagnosis and to recommend concrete and specific measures.
